This month, students, families, and staff from Fort Collins’ Johnson Elementary came together to support our community with an incredible act of kindness. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, our school participated in a Turkey Round-Up, collecting donations to help provide families in need with a holiday meal to remember.

With giving hearts and helping hands, the Johnson community donated over 50 frozen turkeys and an astonishing variety of canned and boxed goods. From creamy mashed potatoes to perfectly spiced pumpkin pie ingredients, every piece of a classic Thanksgiving feast was accounted for! Here’s a snapshot of the items donated:

  • Frozen turkeys
  • Canned corn, green beans, cranberry sauce, yams, and cream of mushroom soup
  • Boxed mac-n-cheese, stuffing, and mashed potatoes
  • Fried onions for that classic green bean casserole
  • Pie crust mix and canned pumpkin for a sweet ending

All the contributions were delivered to Larimer County’s Food Bank, where they’ll be distributed to families who might otherwise go without this Thanksgiving.

Our students demonstrated their generosity in action, learning the value of helping others and experiencing the joy of giving. Whether it was packing a bag of canned goods, donating a turkey, or simply spreading the word about the drive, every effort made a difference.

We couldn’t be prouder of our school community for stepping up in such a big way. A huge thank you to all the families who participated and to the Larimer County Food Bank for partnering with us in this meaningful initiative.

This Turkey Round-Up was more than just a food drive—it was a celebration of compassion, community, and the true meaning of Thanksgiving. Way to go, Johnson Huskies!
