Exciting news swept through the hallways of Johnson Elementary as every second-grade student was eligible to receive a FREE bike and helmet! Thanks to the amazing support of Your Group Ride, Bike Fort Collins, and Dome Construction, our students now have a fresh pair of wheels to ride. This generous giveaway is part of our commitment to Fort Collins’ Safe Routes to School program, which encourages safe, healthy, and eco-friendly travel to and from school.

According to a recent parent poll, more than 95% of Johnson students already walk or bike to school. With this new initiative, even more of our young Huskies can join in the active commute and embrace the joy of riding.

The second graders who opted out of receiving a bike didn’t miss out on the fun! They were invited to bring their own bikes to school on Monday, October 28, for a day packed with bike activities. A wonderful team of volunteers was there to lend a hand, teaching kids the essentials of riding safely and confidently. Students who didn’t yet know how to ride had the chance to learn, and those with more experience enjoyed games and activities designed to improve their skills.

Thank you again to Your Group Ride, Bike Fort Collins, and Dome Construction for their incredible support! It’s moments like these that make Johnson Elementary such a wonderful place for our students to learn, grow, and build lifelong, healthy habits.

Let’s keep rolling, Huskies!
